Terms of Use, key points
  • CASHBOX is a neutral escrow agent and payments service. The deal itself is between the Buyer and the Seller, not with CASHBOX.
  • The Buyer funds the full amount into escrow by a bank-to-bank transfer (via Akahu open banking) that goes straight into CASHBOX's client trust account; funds are released to the Seller when the Buyer confirms.
  • Because payments come directly from your bank, there are no cards and no chargebacks.
  • CASHBOX charges a flat 1.5% fee (GST-inclusive) per payment, deducted from the amount released to the Seller. No monthly or subscription fees.
  • Your money is held on trust in a dedicated Bank of New Zealand (BNZ) client trust account, separate from CASHBOX's own operating funds, and is reconciled regularly.
  • Trust funds may earn interest. CASHBOX retains that interest as a disclosed fee (its margin) and, by funding, you direct us to keep it - but your full principal is never reduced.
  • CASHBOX is a registered financial service provider and a member of an approved dispute resolution scheme you can escalate to for free.
  • We may verify your identity and meet anti-money-laundering obligations (supervised by the Department of Internal Affairs) before you transact.
  • If a Buyer and Seller disagree, the affected escrow funds are paused until the dispute is resolved.
  • Your Consumer Guarantees Act, Fair Trading Act and Privacy Act rights are not taken away by these Terms.
